Derry City Council is responsible for a wide range of services including collection of rates and business rates, planning and building control, housing and the provision of sprts and leisure facilities.

There are 30 elected members (Councillors) in Derry City Council, serving in wards, grouped into five District Electoral Areas: Cityside, Northland, Rural, Shantallow and Waterside.

Rates Enquiries

Rates is a property tax which provides funding for public services such as Parks and Recreation Grounds, Leisure facilities,

Buildings Control

The Building Control Department is responsible for ensuring that buildings are in accordance with the Northern Ireland Building Regulations and are safe, energy efficients and accessible.ient and easily accessible. The Control Officer is Mr Robert White.
